Vermont’s capital city Montpelier suffered catastrophic flooding in July 2023. Nearly 80% of downtown businesses were severely affected, and the total cost of repair is more than $100,000,000.

River Flooding

Vermont has long been known as a farming community.  But climate change has stressed the land to the point where it can no longer sustain many traditional crops.

Skiing is a major industry in Vermont.  The state boasts some of the best skiiing for enthusiasts from New York, Boston, and Montreal Canada. But warmer temperatures have reduced the snow pack and colder temperatures mean resorts can’t make as much snow as they want.
